PnP Eyethu Mall marks 10 years of growth, community impact and inspiration

On 25 October, PnP Eyethu Mall celebrated its 10th anniversary with a stylish, uplifting event attended by staff, family, friends and store owner Teboho Marumo’s associates.

This milestone honoured the store’s achievements and recognised dedicated employees with certificates and vouchers in appreciation of their hard work. Employees also expressed gratitude to Marumo for his inspirational leadership and for creating valuable employment opportunities in Orange Farm.

Marumo, in his address, thanked his family, dedicated staff and Orange Farm News for their ongoing support, attributing the store’s growth to their collective efforts. He highlighted the store’s role in fighting poverty and unemployment, having transformed lives through job creation and generous donations to local schools and non-profits.

One of the most moving stories marking PnP’s decade-long journey is that of Nqobile Zwane, a young woman from Drieziek 5. In 2016, Orange Farm News featured Nqobile’s story of hardship leading store managers Florence Matshelo and Helen Mbatha to visit her.

They found a struggling, child-headed household in a dilapidated shack. Determined to help, they provided essentials and, in line with the wise saying, “Don’t give a man a fish; teach him to fish,” PnP offered Nqobile a job. Today, she remains part of the PnP family and her family’s situation has greatly improved.

In a speech delivered by Busisiwe Beqezi on behalf of the staff, heartfelt thanks were extended to Mr. Marumo: “Your perseverance, patience and balance of strength and kindness inspire us. Thank you for creating an environment where we feel valued and empowered. We’re proud to be part of this team.”

The anniversary celebration showcased PnP Eyethu Mall’s enduring commitment to Orange Farm, a beacon of growth, generosity and hope.
