Community meeting in Ext 1 tackles crime and safety concerns

On Wednesday, 11 September, the Ext 1 Community Hall hosted a vital meeting between SAPS and residents to address the prevalent crimes in the area. Residents had the opportunity to voice their concerns through a question-and-answer session.

During the meeting, volunteers were identified and a sub-forum committee for the Sector 1 Crime Forum was established.

Key participants included:

– Extension 1 community members and leaders

– CPF Executive members

– Community Safety representatives

– A representative from the office of the ward councillor

– Management from Orange Farms Police Station

The discussion also covered gender-based violence and the abuse of elderly persons. Station Commander Brigadier MJ Manamela emphasised the importance of community cooperation with the police, urging residents to be proactive in reporting any criminal activities in Ext 1.

By fostering a united front against crime, the meeting aimed to empower the community, enhance trust and ensure a safer environment for all. The engagement underscored the shared responsibility of maintaining safety and the critical role of proactive partnerships between law enforcement and the community.
