Sphandi Sempilo: More than a hustle, a celebration of kasi fashion
Tshwarelo Nxumalo, the founder of the Sphandi Sempilo brand, launched his clothing line in 2019 with a vision to celebrate the struggles faced in the fashion industry.
The brand embodies the spirit of hustlers – those who wear what truly represents them, as they strive to put food on the table and care for their loved ones.
Tshwarelo told OrangeFarmNews: “At Sphandi Sempilo, we specialise in caps, t-shirts, hoodies and spoties. Since our inception, we’ve leveraged social media and mobile shopping to promote the brand.”
“Besides being an entrepreneur, I’m also a singer and rapper and last year, I released two tracks ‘Daddy Talk’ and ‘Ntombizodwa’. My dream is to open a flagship Sphandi Sempilo store in Orange Farm, providing more clothing options and designs. This shop will make it easier for the local community to access our products and will also unite and uplift fellow hustlers. I aspire to be the first black person to build a clothing store right in the heart of our kasi, a place that brings change and helps others too,” he added.
