Orange Farms SAPS and stakeholders host anti-GBV and anti-bullying school talk at Govan Mbeki Primary
On Monday, 29 July, Orange Farms SAPS, along with various stakeholders, hosted a safety programme at Govan Mbeki Primary in Drieziek 3.
The event featured a school talk aimed at educating learners on recognizing, preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) and bullying.
Key participants included: Orange Farms SAPS – Head of Vispol – Head of Support – Social Crime Prevention Coordinators – Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Coordinators – Sector Commanders – CPF Executive Members.
Motivational speakers included Joyce Ragale ‘Majoy’ from the TV drama Skeem Saam, -Tshepo Mofokeng, Acting School Health Coordinator, Sedibeng West.
The programme focused on educating students about different forms of bullying:
-Verbal: Hurtful spoken comments or written information.
-Physical: Physical harm to other learners or their possessions.
-Cyberbullying: Using social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp to post harmful content about others.
Learners were also informed about the seriousness of bullying as a human rights violation and a criminal offense under the law. They were empowered with knowledge about the Child Justice Act and Children’s Rights. This initiative was a crucial step in promoting safety and well-being among the youth in our community.
