Solly Mkhabela gifts 350 senior citizens with blankets on Mandela Day!
On 18 July, well-known philanthropist Solly Mkhabela celebrated Nelson Mandela International Day in a heartwarming manner at Solwazi Primary School in Drieziek 5. The Solly Mkhabela Foundation organized a special event for the senior community members in the area.
Nobuntu Khoza, the Public Relations Officer who has been with the foundation since its inception, organized the event. “Mr Mkhabela instructed us to organize this event on his behalf,” she said.
Led by Mr Mkhabela and managed by his daughter, Julie Mkhabela, the foundation is dedicated to serving the community, especially children and elderly individuals. Their actions on Mandela Day highlighted their commitment to giving back to those in need.
During the event, the foundation distributed 350 blankets to elderly residents of Orange Farm, providing much-needed warmth and comfort. The recipients expressed immense gratitude and appreciation for the foundation’s generosity.
In addition to blankets, the Solly Mkhabela Foundation provides various essential items to those in need, including school shoes, food parcels, sanitary pads, winter clothes and more. Mr Mkhabela’s unwavering dedication to supporting the less fortunate in his community continues to make a positive impact.
Reflecting on the foundation’s mission, Mr Mkhabela expressed his passion for education and its power to empower children. He emphasized the importance of providing educational opportunities to all South African children, believing that education is key to a brighter future for the youth.
Despite limited resources, he remains committed to his cause and actively seeks support from companies through donations and sponsorships. He understands that the needs of his community extend beyond material goods and is determined to provide assistance wherever possible.
