Kaizer Motaung Jr celebrate ‘right man’ at helm of Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has labelled new coach Nasreddine Nabi ‘the right man’ as the club officially introduced their new technical team.

Following much speculation and reports, Chiefs this week officially announced the arrival of Nabi as their new head coach, following his spell with AS FAR in Morocco. The 58-year-old Tunisian linked up with his new employers in Turkey, where they are currently on pre-season camp, with confirmation that he has signed a two-year deal with an option for a further year.

Motaung Jr now believes Amakhosi finally have the “right man” at the helm as the Soweto giants look to turn their fortunes around after nine years of agony, which have yielded no trophies since Stuart Baxter’s first spell ended in 2015.

“After what has been a fairly exhaustive vetting process, it gives us great pleasure to finally welcome our new head coach to Kaizer Chiefs,” says Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“We believe we have found the right man to fulfil our vision of restoring Amakhosi to our rightful place at the top of the football pyramid, and we welcome coach Nabi and his technical team with the pledge of unity and support in pursuit of our common goal.”

Nabi’s arrival was preceded by that of second assistant coach Fernando da Cruz, who jetted into South Africa at the start of July to officially get the club’s pre-season training underway. Also part of the former Young Africans mentor’s backroom staff is trusted first assistant Khalil Ben Youssef, with whom Nabi won back-to-back trebles in Tanzania and finished second in the Botola Pro League with FAR.

Replacing Reiner Dinkelacker to head up the goalkeeping department is Ilyes Mzoughi, who previously worked with Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis, and Stade Tunisien. Lastly, Safi Majdi is the new strength and conditioning coach, bringing with him experience from the likes of Etoile du Sahel, Raja Casablanca and Wydad Athletic Club.
