Future Stars Ladies: Building soccer excellence in Orange Farm
Located in Ext 7B, Future Stars Ladies was founded and is coached by Gift Khoza. The team includes divisions for U14, U15, U17, U20 and a First Team. The team compete in the Sasol League with the goal of empowering girls by nurturing their talents and grooming them to become future professional soccer players.
Currently, the senior team competes in the demanding Sasol League, facing well-funded opponents. Proud of their commitment to developing girls’ soccer in Orange Farm, the team recently celebrated a major achievement. Their protégé, Dineo “Dinho” Makoala, won a medal with the national U15 team in Tanzania, a significant milestone for the club. This success underlines the potential of Future Stars Ladies to produce top-quality soccer players.
Gift Khoza highlighted the team’s accomplishments: “We are a team of U20, almost 99% of the squad. So far, we have won nine titles in different tournaments, including two Regional League titles, a top 10 finish in the 2023 Engen Knockout Tournament and a Top 8 finish in the Gauteng Women’s Soccer Tournament. Currently, we have no sponsors and cover all expenses, including transport, referees and food, out of our own pockets.”
With Dinho already representing Orange Farm admirably, Future Stars Ladies is poised to continue its legacy of excellence in soccer development.
The team appeals to the community for sponsorship and support, essential for thriving in the resource-intensive Sasol League.
