Mondia Health hosts enlightening mental health event in Orange Farm

On 18 May, Mondia Health Vereeniging held a highly successful mental health event aimed at addressing various aspects of mental health including: self-care, the power of the mind, being grateful, the 8 dimensions of wellness and Depression to name a few, within the community.

The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall in Orange Farm and attracted around 250 attendees. The program featured a lineup of distinguished speakers who covered a range of mental health topics.

Among the speakers were Dr. Tshego Mathe, Mr. Siphiwe Moyo, Mr. S. Mhlongo, Kerry Mans, and Clinical Psychologist Melody Nqcuka. Each speaker brought valuable insights and practical advice to the audience, fostering a deeper understanding of mental health issues and strategies for coping and support.

A highlight of the event was the interactive question and answer session. The panel comprised Dr. K. Letseli, a Psychiatrist from Mondia Health, Miss Nqcuka and two Occupational Therapists, Primrose Manhuwa and Zena Johnson. This session provided an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with experts, ask pertinent questions and receive personalized advice and information.

The event also included vibrant cultural performances, featuring song items by Naledi, a poem by Sandile and a traditional dance and drama group. These performances added a dynamic and engaging element to the day’s proceedings, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the community.

Attendees left the event feeling enriched and better equipped to address mental health challenges. The success of this event underscores Mondia Health’s commitment to promoting mental wellness and providing accessible mental health resources to the community.
