On 20 May, MMC for Transport Cllr. Kenny Kunene, accompanied by JRA board members, JRA acting CEO Zweli Nyathi and other stakeholders, conducted ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the rehabilitation and surface upgrades of Vincent Street and Link Road in Orange Farm, Ward 4.
Kunene has been actively reopening rehabilitated roads and streets across Region G. The event saw the attendance of Nyeleti Mackay (JRA acting Regional Operations Manager for Region G); members of the Orange Farm United Taxi Association (OFUTA); Cllr Lebo Mokoka; Project Information Officer Puleng Mokgohloa; JRA Board Member Victoria Mamogobo; MMC for Human Settlements Cllr Anthea Leitch; CFO Lufuno Mashau; HOD for Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Ayanda Ntshingila; acting HOD for Regional Operations Khaya Gqibitole and community members.
The rehabilitation of Link Road was particularly significant, as it had been in poor condition, causing daily difficulties for motorists. OFUTA welcomed the improvements, with PRO Monti Motsopa stating: “Today marks the official opening of Link Road, which had been in disrepair for years. Thanks to the efforts of MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene, the JRA and other stakeholders, the road has been fixed and is now user-friendly.”
