Excitement builds as Swidi Wodwa brings Easter Schools Soccer Tournament

With the spirit of competition and camaraderie reignited, Swidi Wodwa announces the revival of the Easter Schools Soccer Tournament, set to kick off from 7 to 14 March, promising a week of thrilling football action for enthusiasts and supporters alike. The thrilling inauguration of this soccer spectacle unfolded on 29 February at Vaal Monate Cafe (VMC).

Muzi Hadebe, Swidi Wodwa’s co-founder, expressed enthusiasm, stating: “The following grounds, Sthende Grounds in Ext 6 and Exchange Grounds 7b, will set the stage for the Top 8 Secondary Schools tournament. Each ground will play host to four schools, with the victors progressing to the semi-finals the following week.”

He further revealed: “On 14 March, Exchange Grounds will witness the culmination of the tournament with the grand final. But before the ultimate showdown, fans can enjoy a curtain raiser as Swidi Wodwa Masters take on Teachers FC.”

To ensure a seamless flow of final matches, time slots for the first games will commence at 1:00 PM, followed by the second games at 3:00 PM, promising a day filled with non-stop football action and excitement.

Among the schools vying for top honors are:

Mphethi vs Raphela

Thetha vs Jabulile

Thusa vs Leshata

Thamsanqa’s opponents to be announced.

The victorious teams will not only earn bragging rights but also coveted prizes, including brand new jerseys, a gleaming trophy, gold medals for the champions, and silver medals for the runners-up.
