Over the weekend, the Dona’s Mates Football Club players, spanning from under 11 to under 19, gathered at the Dona’s Mates Grounds in Ext 8a for a momentous occasion.

They were presented with brand new soccer kits, a gesture that filled the air with excitement and gratitude. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed South African football legends, including Johannes ‘Big Boy’ Kholoane, renowned for his time with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, Jacky ‘Asinamali’ Masike, a legend from Kaizer Chiefs, and Isaac Chirwa, celebrated for his tenure with Orlando Pirates.

The joy of the Dona’s Mates players knew no bounds as they received not only new soccer kits but also fresh soccer balls. The CEO & Founder, James ‘Maradona’ Shabangu, himself a South African football legend, spearheaded this generous gesture.

The Dona’s Mates Youth Development Project, fueled by a grant from the Gauteng Province Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, orchestrated a Coaches Workshop on Violence Prevention through Football. Additionally, they utilized the funds to procure football kits, balls, and other necessary equipment for training.

Expressing deep gratitude, the Dona’s Mates Youth Development Project acknowledges and appreciates the unwavering support from the Gauteng Province Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation.

As they eagerly anticipate the commencement of the new football season under the coordination of the Community League Football Association, they stand united in their mission of youth development through the beautiful game.
