Restoration for Uniting Families champions the transformative force of storytelling

In the heart of Ext 1 Community Hall lies a beacon of hope: Restoration for Uniting Families organization. Their mission? To bridge the gap between parents and children through the magic of storytelling.

Partnering with Nal’i Bali, they embark on a journey to empower families by nurturing a love for reading and learning. At the core of their initiative are dedicated volunteers, graduates who have walked the path of matriculation. These young champions, fueled by a desire to make a difference, devote their time to reading sessions at Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDS) and home visits to children who, for various reasons, are not attending these centers.

But their mission extends beyond mere reading sessions. They become mentors, guiding parents on how to engage with their children through storybooks, fostering not just literacy but also strengthening familial bonds.

It’s not just about reading; it’s about creating moments that spark joy, curiosity, and connection within families. Every afternoon, Monday through Thursday, the ECD’s echoes with laughter and imagination as the reading club comes to life. Children eagerly gather, their faces illuminated with anticipation, as volunteers weave tales that transport them to far-off lands and ignite their imaginations.

Yet, behind the scenes, there’s a partnership that fuels this initiative. Nal’i Bali provides support and resources, recognizing the transformative power of storytelling. Meanwhile, the youth volunteers receive a stipend, a token of appreciation for their dedication and contribution to their community. And for the 13 members, their stipends come from the Community Works Program (CWP), a testament to the collective effort invested in this noble cause.

But beyond financial incentives, it’s the intangible rewards that drive these volunteers. The joy of witnessing a child’s eyes light up with understanding, the gratitude of parents who discover newfound ways to connect with their little ones, and the sense of fulfillment that comes from knowing they’re making a tangible difference in the lives of families.

Restoration for Uniting Families isn’t just an organization; it’s a lifeline for a community yearning for connection and empowerment. Through the simple act of storytelling, they’re weaving a tapestry of unity, resilience, and hope, one page at a time.
