Prepare to be captivated as Ziyamlandela unveils his latest EP this March!
In the heart of Drieziek 4 resides a musical legend known simply as Ziyamlandela, affectionately dubbed Oupa Dubazana. From the humble streets of Orange Farm, his fingers first embraced the guitar strings at a tender age, echoing the melodies of revered Maskandi icons like Shwi Nomtekhala.
The allure of Maskandi music cast its spell on him at the tender age of five, igniting a lifelong passion. Hailing originally from Bergville, Dukuza in KZN, Oupa Dubazana’s roots found fertile ground in Orange Farm, where he navigated the corridors of education while nurturing his musical aspirations.
In 2010, his debut album, “Babengihleka,” marked a milestone in his artistic journey, followed by the soul-stirring resonance of his sophomore effort, “Imkhuba Kayifani,” in 2017.
As the dawn of a new era unfolds, Oupa Dubazana is sculpting his next opus, an EP set to grace digital platforms on 31 March. Collaborating with luminaries like Anele Wodumo and Vusi Mcambi, he aims to weave a tapestry of sound that transcends boundaries. The stage has been his sanctuary, sharing its luminance with stalwarts of the industry such as Ihashi Elimhlophe, Shwi Nomtekhala, and Thokozani Langa, among countless others.
Through the corridors of Facebook, his page, “Ziyamlandela Wangempela,” stands as a testament to his musical odyssey, a beacon for enthusiasts seeking the soulful rhythms of Maskandi.
