Bryoni Govender to represent South Africa in Miss Universe
Bryoni Govender is a 26-year-old aspiring lawyer who hails from Morningside which is a suburb of Johannesburg. She finished as first runner-up in the recently concluded Miss South Africa 2023 pageant.
This is already her second participation at Miss South Africa. In 2018, she made it as far as the Top 12. Bryoni Govender was named as Miss Universe South Africa 2023 since Natasha Joubert can’t compete at Miss Universe twice.
Bryoni will try to bring home the 4th crown for her country. South Africa is proud to have three titleholders: Margaret Gardiner (1978), Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017) and Zozibini Tunzi (2019).
This year’s Miss Universe will be held in El Salvador. The finals are slated on November 18. More than 80 countries are expected to compete in the pageant.
