Orange Farm’s Black Mode Productions aces 48 hour movie challenge

Between 11 and 13 August, budding filmmakers representing Black Mode Productions from Orange Farm were challenged to make a movie from script to screen in the 48 Hour Film Project.

Film producer and director, Morena Mofokeng told Orange Farm News: “The film project was a nice experience, it challenged me and my team to keep the time, and see the importance of time management. Even if we had a sleepless weekend as we were chasing time, the best thing is that we managed to do the filming in one day and edited in the remaining time. This makes me as Producer to see the importance of team work.”

The team was tasked to produce a school or romance film with a spoon as the pro and the film was based on the use of line “YOU Kidding ME”.

“We decided combined both genres in order to tell the best story and titled the film ‘My Love For You’. Protagonists, Karabo Mampi who played Buhle and Sphamandla Mathebula who played Lucas managed to breath life into the characters making the movie interesting. It was a challenging task since time was not on our side, but, we managed to do it,” said Kamogelo Morake, the Director of Photography.

The film has been accepted and will be screened at the Mall Of Africa’s SK Cinema on 26 August.

If “My Love For You’ impresses the judges, the team stands a chance to have its film screened at an international film festival – Cannes Short Film Corner – in Lisbon, Portugal next year.
