Swidi Wodwa sets sight on DStv eKasi Champion of Champs title
On Sunday, 25 June, Drieziek 1’s Swidi Wodwa Football Club will represent Orange Farm at the semi finals of the DStv eKasi Champion of Champs Soccer Tournament in Soweto.
They will face their Vaal archrivals Covid 19 at Moletsane Soccer Fields for a spot in the final. Swidi Wodwa’s journey to the semi’s started in the group stages, they beat Black Poison FC 2-1 and proceeded to conquer Soweto Super United 2-1. Already qualified, they lost 2-0 to Phaphama FC on 19 June.
Founded by Peter and Lovemore Sithole and Muzi Radebe, Swidi Wodwa is a force to be reckoned with, they have won Ibhola Lethu, Zone 8 and Simon Molefe Easter Tournaments and beat top Soweto teams.
Swidi Wodwa’s Lovemore Sithole told OFN:“We are happy to represent Orange Farm and have our eyes set on the big prize. We seek sponsors to provide transport for our fans to attend the game in Soweto as we want them to come and support us. We plead with local businesses and well-wishers to help us. Any form of assistance to the players will also be appreciated.”
The final will be at Dobsonville Stadium on 4 July. Teams are battling it out for the main prize of R250 000 (Cup). Bottom teams in both groups will play for R70 000 (plate section).
