MMC for Health and Social Development, Cllr Ennie Makhafola, pays tribute to superheroes on International Nurses Day

“Today marks International Nurses Day. I take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the nurses who have been nursing our City back to health,”Makhafola

Celebrated under the theme: “Our Nurses, Our Future”, this crucial day turns the spotlight on the important contribution nurses make daily for patients and the City.

The City’s nurses are the backbone of our efforts to provide primary healthcare for our residents, and their importance should be elevated at every opportunity we get. The tireless efforts of nurses in maintaining our public health systems should be applauded.

‘International Nurses Day commemorates the birth in 1820 of Florence Nightingale, the foundational philosopher of modern nursing.

”The event, established in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses, also serves to highlight the important role nurses fulfill in health care.’To all the nurses in the City, your passion for our patients’ health is appreciated every day. Thank you for all you do. Your compassion, optimism and kindness do not go unnoticed. We appreciate you!,” Makhafola concluded.
